CARMINA BURANA - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Our performance season opens Monday, November 1, 2010, when all 300+ members of the Choral Department combine to perform Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.

Please join us as we continue our rich and impressive tradition of performing a major work.

Tickets ($10 General Admission) will be available online, at the door, or by calling 487-5240 xSING (x7464).

   
THIS YEAR'S MUSICAL: WHITE CHRISTMAS ... DECEMBER 2 - 5

This year UAHS will be one of the first schools in the state to premiere an American musical theater classic in Irving Berlin's White Christmas.

The production staff will again include choreographer Melanie Bales, professor of Dance at The Ohio State University, and Opera Columbus Artistic Director Bill Boggs, conducting the pit orchestra. Performances will be held Thursday, December 2 through Sunday, December 5, 2010.

This year's Fall Follies will be called "February Follies" and will take place on February 18 - 20, 2011.
  
EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORM
Print the Emergency Medical Form that is required for all choral students to complete before the summer retreat.   
    
SYMPHONIC CHOIR EAST COAST TOUR

The dates for this year's Symphonic Choir East Coast Tour are March 30 - April 4, 2011. A mandatory Symphonic Choir Tour Parent Meeting will be held on Monday, September 13 at 6:45 PM

    
REMINDER ABOUT COMMUNICATIONS!

The communication committee will maintain a database of all students enrolled in the choral program and contact parents and students keeping them up to date about Choral information and Vocal Music Booster activities. We will use e-mail as our primary communication with you.

In order to keep the lines of communications going, we need to keep our database current, so please be sure that we have your student's name and address, as well as phone numbers and e-mail addresses (please provide BOTH the STUDENT'S and the PARENT'S phone numbers and e-mail addresses). This information should be provided on the vocal music contract signed by you and your student at the beginning of the school year.

HOWEVER, to insure that we have your correct email address you may email Dina Giddens with the information. In the subject line write UAVMB contact. In the body of the email provide the parent's first & last name, student's first & last name, choral group(s) they participate in, your phone number & both parent & student email addresses. A UAVMB department directory will be distributed to all students in late fall. If you DO NOT have email or DO NOT wish to be contacted this way, please call Dina Giddens at 246-8932, and we will contact you with information another way as best we can.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

We want to express our congratulations to Amber Bruns, the 2010 recipient of the Keith Krieger Award. The Keith Krieger Award was established by friends and family in memory of Keith Krieger, who was a member of the UAHS Class of 1976. This fund awards an annual music scholarship for a student who will continue in the performing arts in higher education. Vocal music and/or piano will be given priority.

We also congratulate Deb Stype and Lauri Myer, the recipient of the Outstanding Booster Award for 2009 - 2010. Deb and Lauri co-chaired the Tickets Committee.

   
PUBLICITY

WE know that the vocal music performances are great! Now we need to be sure the whole community knows!! Please help get the word out. The Boosters need YOUR help to organize the distribution of yard signs, flyers, and sandwich boards. We also need help getting the word to retirement homes, senior centers and other groups who would love to see the shows.
